Thanks A Latte

Good Morning Blog Land!

Today's post will be my first post as a Designer for "Through The Craft Room Door".  I am super excited to be a part of this team. It's a great place to get inspiration, join challenges, chat about crafty topics and meet new crafty people. The newest edition of TTCRD magazine has just been published. There is a video and link on my side bar. You should check it out!! This week's challenge is ANYTHING GOES, as always.

My card for this weeks challenge was an experiment. Lol   I saw a card while browsing around Pinterest that had this amazing 3D "frame". I said, "Hey, I can do that". Then I said, "Okay, how are you gonna do that?"
First of all, I started with one of my Bestest crafty friend's digis! This lovely coffee cup was drawn by Kim Hecker of Oak Pond Creations. Isn't it adorable? They say ask and you shall receive...and I did.
Thanks Kim, you're the best!!

It was quite simple after the first attempt. ( I only wasted one sheet of paper...HeeHee ) I used my Spellbinders Classic Square dies. I laid the largest one in the center of a 5 X 5 piece of card stock and traced around the edge with my embossing tool. Then I centered the next size smaller in the center of that and embossed around the edge of that one as well. You should have two squares embossed. Cut diagonally from corner to corner of the largest square and fold along the embossed lines to make the frame stand up. EASY PEASY!

It makes such a nice clean corner and frames your card so well.

Then you just decorate and layer as desired.

I hope you enjoyed my little tutorial. I will definitely be doing this one again.

Sending You a Little Prayer

Sassy Cheryl's Challenge #148 - Clean and Simple

This week's challenge at Sassy Cheryl's is brought to you by the letter "P", for Pat! She has chosen
Clean and Simple as her theme just to make me bite my finger nails off. Lol!
I can NOT lie...I peeked at the other Sassy Girl's cards already and they are FABULOUS!

I would like to say that I am going to try to be a better blogger this year. I have let myself get lazy. I do go around and see all my Bloggie Buddies' cards but haven't taken the time to leave some love. No excuses, just know that I will try to do better.

I made my card this week for a dear Friend and Family member who lost a loved one.
I am hoping this card brings her some peace of mind.
This image is one of Cheryl's Praying for Peace images. She also has a little boy. They are both so sweet.
I decided to paper piece my image to take place of  my usual froo-froo.

Thanks for all of you who joined in last week. We can't wait to see you at Sassy Cheryl's again.
Happy crafting y'all!!

Hang In There, Jeni!

Sassy Cheryl's Challenge #125 - Polka Dots

Happy Tuesday morning! Super talented, cutie Judy has chosen our theme again and I am super excited about this weeks Sassy Cheryl's challenge!!! First of all it's all about polka dots....my faaaaavorite, but mostly excited because I get to show you a new character Cheryl has created for us.
Her name is Jeni!!!!! How stinkin' lucky am I?!?
I get my very own Jeni digi and of course you can have her too. She is in Cheryl's shop HERE. There is also another Jeni image called "Jeni Hates School". Lol   I just ADORE her and I do have to say that I was on cloud 9 all week. I just can't tell you how thrilled I am Cheryl. I'm sure all my friends and family would like to thank you too...for making my head swell this week. (just a little) Lol

I paper pieced Jeni's dress with the polka dot paper I used on my card and was happy to see that the dots fell into perfect spots. Sometimes when I paper piece I have to try again because I'm not too thrilled with the pattern placements after it is printed.
I don't have black hair but as soon as I saw this cutie it reminded me of a Jenny Doll I had from Fisher Price when I was little. I won't be divulging the year in which I had her because that would be showing my age. None of that!! I can tell you that I looooooved her. I wanted to show her to you, so I searched the Internet to find her. This is her, but my Jenny had a blue flowered dress. Can't you see the resemblance?

I sure hope you can join us this week, Happy crafting y'all!!

Under My Umbrella

Sassy Cheryl's Challenge #124 - Fancy Borders

Happy Tuesday morning! It's time for another fun challenge at Sassy Cheryl's. This week our
theme is brought to you by.....our sweet and talented cutie Judy.
She wants to see some Fancy Borders on our creations.
Time to pull out those punches, spellbinders and die cuts and GET FANCY!!
I chose Cheryl's cutie pie Charlie and her green umbrella. I paper pieced  the umbrella to match my DP and colored her hair red to match a certain little red head I know.
I just love Charlie's unruly curls, don't you? She is just too cute!!

Thanks to all of you who played along in last week's challenge. There sure was some sweet eye candy!
Hope to see you again this week. Happy crafting y'all!!!

A "Thank You" card...

Hello Blog Land! As you can see, I had a day off today to celebrate The 4th of July. What better way to celebrate than to spend a little time in my "Happy Place".  I wanted to make a Thank You card for someone who did a really nice thing for my Daughter and I. Savannah had a broken glass on one of her VW's side mirrors and I called an old business colleague to have it replaced. What a sweetie...he did it for free!!! I know it wasn't a fortune but it REALLY gives me a little faith in mankind when people do nice things for others. I couldn't let that go by without saying "thanks". So..."Thanks Tim"!

I will be making another one with a slightly different theme when I get a chance. Don't you love it when you are working on one card and get an idea for another one?!?
I pulled out one of my OLD wood mounted stamps for this one. I know, I can hear the gasps! This poor thing has been collecting dust for so long and I actually think this is the very first time I have used it. The stamp is a "Just Married" stamp, but I did a little paper piecing and made a new license plate.

Here's another Flip-Flop Creations sentiment freebie for you...ENJOY!

Stamp: Stampabilities - Just Married Car
Sentiment: Flip-Flop Creations
Paper: Recollections - Red/White polka dots, My Minds Eye - Meadow Lark 6X6 pad
Accessories: Spellbinders - Standard Circles & Labels Twenty-Two, EK Success - 1 1/2" circle punch & 2" scalloped circle punch, MS- Scalloped border punch, Textured Trios - black/white gingham ribbon

Am I Corny?

Umm....afraid so!
Nothing wrong with being a little Corny.

I did a little paper piecing on this cutie from Whimsy and Stars. It is called Silly Candy Corn and you can find it HERE, along with so many more adorable images for Fall.
These little candies don't last very long around my house. I have a little candy dish with Huey, Dewey & Louie standing around it and it's my job to keep it full the whole month of October. So, I guess you could say my whole Family must be a little corny. (soooo true)

Relax, it's your Birthday!

The Tidwells have another Happy Birthday this month. My Sister In Law Angela's Birthday is Wednesday. I am so proud of her, she just completed the Cooper River Bridge Run in Charleston. In the past few years she has become a "Runnin' Fool". Great job Angela!! I made this card for her in hopes that she will relax and enjoy her special day.

Happy Birthday Angela!!

Oh Christmas Tree

Sassy Cheryl's Challenge #32 - Paper Piecing

Tracy is our crafty hostess with the mostest this week for the Sassy Cheryl's blog challenge. She would like us to do some paper piecing. I am kinda new to paper piecing but I absolutely love it! I chose two images to work with this week; "Blanket Santa" & "Primitive Tree". This cute little Santa was screaming at me! His jammies and blankie are perfect for paper piecing. I had to give him some old fashioned jammies and a patchwork quilt. This card ended up "slightly" bigger than I had planned so I may just keep it for a Christmas decoration. Might cost a small fortune to mail it. Lol My hubby insisted I put another row of trees along the top, which I have to admit looks better. Love you honey!
Cheryl has the cutest Holiday images in her shop. It's never too early to start on those Christmas cards!

Paper: Bo Bunny-Tis' the Season, Scenic Route-Rockland, My Minds Eye-Tiny Dots(blue), Bazzill Basics-Rain & Rain Forest
Accessories: EK Success-Tree border punch, Ribbon Boutique-Holiday ribbon, MS-crystal coarse glitter, Marvy-White & brown liquid applique & Recollections-Christmas tree brad

Thoughts Of You

I made this card for card club last night. I used an image from Sassy Cheryl's that was a freebie from her group on Paper Craft Planet. I love this shy little gal! If you haven't seen Cheryl's images before you need to check them out. There are so many fabulous images to choose from. She has some really great Halloween and Christmas images right now. Paper is MyMindsEye "Quite Contrary" and Bazzill Basics cardstock in "Rain" & "Vanilla". I used a Quickutz embossing folder "Diamonds & Dots".

Wishing You Joy

Sassy Cheryl's Challenge #22 - Thinking of You

This image is "Tiny Tabitha" From Sassy Cheryl's of course! I tried something new to me this time. I paper pieced her clothes. It was tedious; but lots of fun. Her coat & hat are Frances Meyer & My Minds Eye. Blue back ground paper is Fancy Pants. I used Liquid Applique with Martha Stewart crystal course glitter on top then heated to get the fluffy look for her mittens, hat & snow. I embossed the white card stock with Cuttle Bug's Snowflakes folder. I used EK Success scallop border & Martha Stewart Snowflake punches, a snowflake brad and pink tulle. The sentiment is a Kolette Hall stamp.

Happy Birthday America!

I couldnt let this holiday pass without making a card for "My Country". It is her Birthday after all. This image from Sassy Cheryl's made it easy. I colored her with copic markers then cut and pasted her. (I think my eyes crossed a few times. Lol) Paper is Creative Imaginations. I used Spellbinders die "Labels Two". The little calendar stamp is Stugio G ( it was a dollar stamp @ A.C. Moore ). I love it when I find stuff like that.

I hope we all take time to reflect today and think about the true meaning of the Holiday and thank those who have and those who still keep us free. ♥
Have a Fun & safe 4th of July everyone!! ~jeni
